2011/2012 Dance Season

RECITAL

The recitals are not mandatory, however, we strongly encourage each student to be a part of the performance, as it helps build self-confidence, increases self-esteem and is a great way for friends and family to see everything our students have accomplished during the season. The kids also LOVE to get dressed up and usually can’t wait to get on stage. Our recital’s theme for the 2011/2012 dance season is “On The Move”. We usually have our recital at Aurora Central High School or Rangeview High School during the month of May. The tentative date right now is Saturday, May 19, 2012 around 1:00pm. Aurora Public Schools does not let us reserve their facilities until 3 months prior to the event so we should have a date confirmation the first part of February, 2012. Parents will be informed of the recital date as soon as possible. We will be running two recitals back to back on the same day this year. First recital will be at 1:00pm and the second recital will be at 3:00pm.

WE ARE HAPPY TO START NEW STUDENTS IN ALL CLASSES AT ANY TIME. WE RELY ON OTHER COMPANIES TO PROVIDE OUR RECITAL COSTUMES EACH YEAR AND, THEREFORE, CANNOT GUARANTEE PARTICIPATION IN OUR RECITAL IF REGISTRATION OCCURS AFTER WE HAVE PUT THROUGH OUR FINAL COSTUME ORDER.

DUE TO COSTUME ORDER DEADLINES, STUDENTS REGISTERING AFTER JANUARY 21ST WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RECITAL.

DRESS REHEARSAL

Dress rehearsal for the recital will be the same day as the show. Dress rehearsal for recital A will begin at 8am and dress rehearsal for recital B will begin at 10am. When your child has completed their number(s) in the rehearsal, you are welcome to leave – we try and get the younger dancers out as soon as possible. It is a long day, however, we have found that running the dress rehearsal the same day as the show actually helps keep excitement levels up and the kids tend to perform better when they practice on the same stage earlier in the day.

PERFORMANCE FEES

Dancin' Dreams never charges any performance fees.

FALL FUNDRAISER

We will offer a Fall/Winter fundraiser again this year to help pay for costumes and facility rental expenses for the recital. This year's Fall fundraiser will be a dance-a-thon! Participation in the fundraiser is completely voluntary. If you choose to participate, the profit you make will be placed on your dance account and will be used to pay for either a portion or all of your recital costume(s). Profits over and above the cost of costumes will go toward facility rental and production costs.

COSTUME ORDERS

Costume orders for our big recital must be ordered by the end of January in order to receive them in time. Costume orders will be due no later than January 20, 2012. Instructors will measure students for costumes during their scheduled class time prior to this date.

RECITAL PICTURES

Recital picture day is scheduled for May 6, 2012. Group photos and individual photos will be available for purchase. You are not required to buy any pictures, however, we do ask that everyone in each group be a part of the group photo so those that are purchasing the photos will have everyone included in the picture. Order forms will be available when the date has been set. Pictures are usually available for pick-up at dress rehearsal.

RECITAL TICKETS

Ticket sales help pay for production costs and facility rental for our recital. Tickets will be available for purchase about one month prior to the event. Tickets are $10.00 each.

RECITAL DVD

A professional DVD of the entire show will be available for purchase. Order forms will be available prior to the recital and will also be available at the recital. DVD’s run about $30.00 each.

FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE

A tradition at Dancin’ Dreams and a huge hit with the audience every year. Dads get to be on stage and dance a choreographed piece with their daughter(s). Participation in this dance is voluntary. Rehearsals for this number will start in January and usually take place on a Saturday once or twice a month until the recital.

FINALE/CLOSING NUMBER

Participation in the Finale dance is voluntary. Rehearsals for this number will start in January and usually take place on a Saturday once or twice a month until the recital.
